"Where Quality is More Important than Quantity"

About Us at YCC

Our daughters, Addison Rose, Hattie Lin and Olivia Rae Young are 4th generation Hereford breeders. Their grandfather had 50 Polled Hereford and 50 Horned cows on the Schully Trust Farm in New Holland, Illinois. He sold out in 1980 and at that time Yale received his first heifer. Yale and his sister grew the herd to 35 cows and exhibited at local, state and nationals shows. In 1993 they purchased a Canadian bred Herd Bull and showed him at five state fairs, Kansas City and Louisville, Kentucky. He was named 1994 Midwest Show Bull of the year. Hale and his sister ran the cow herd under the name Tip Top Farms until their Dad purchased the cow herd in 2001. Tip Top Farms still maintains the 35 head of commercial Hereford cows in Atlanta, Illinois.

In 2012, Abby and Yale relocated to their current location in Lexington Illinois. Having only timber ground and tillable ground, they set out on a mission to build a new Livestock facility. It is still a work in progress and coming along, the cows were brought home in the fall of 2013 and the first calf crop was born the spring of 2014. Please stop by and take a tour of the farm, we also have over 2 miles of trails in the timber, mile of winding creek, around 4-5 acres of wild leeks, and over 100 maple trees that the previous owners tapped and made maple syrup. The spring of 2013 was our first attempt at making syrup and we made one and a half gallons.
